AI sales consultant for an online store: recommendations, orders and payment links
· 2 min read
Filters and search work when a customer knows the product’s name. Many don’t: they know their problem — a gift for a dad who loves coffee, food for a large-breed puppy, mats for a specific car. A consultant who asks two questions and shows three right options turns that visit into an order.
What a good consultant does
- Understands the need in the customer’s words and asks only what decides the choice: size, model, budget, who it’s for.
- Shows real products. A few options from your catalog with exact prices and availability — on the website as a small table, in messengers as a short list.
- Explains the difference. Why this one and not that one, in one sentence.
- Takes the order. Collects the details, creates the order and sends a payment button.
- Answers after the sale. Order status, delivery, returns — from your system and your policies.

Your catalog is the source of truth
The consultant must never recall prices from memory. There are two ways to give it your products: add them in the dashboard, or connect your shop through a connector so the agent searches your live catalog and creates orders in your own system. With a connector, stock and prices are always current, and order statuses come back to the conversation. Developers will find the protocol in the developer guide.
When something isn’t in the catalog
Customers regularly ask for things you don’t sell. A good consultant says so honestly, offers the closest alternative — and doesn’t pretend that “a manager will get back to you” when no one will. Every such request is recorded, so you see what customers want and you don’t have yet. If you take custom orders, the agent can offer that too and notify your team.
Discounts without surprises
Set the maximum discount the agent may give. Anything above it is refused by the system, not just discouraged in the prompt; the agent can offer to ask a manager instead. See how to stop an AI from inventing prices.
How you pay for it
Sales Core AI has no subscription: a prepaid balance covers the AI work the agent actually does, and a share is taken only from orders that get paid. A cancelled order returns the commission. So the consultant costs most when it sells most.
