How to tell if your AI salesperson is working: the numbers that matter

· 2 min read

“The bot had 400 conversations this month” says nothing about sales. An AI salesperson should be judged like a human one: by what it brought in, at what cost, and where it lost people. Here are the numbers worth watching and what each one tells you.

Results first

NumberWhat it tells you
Leads with a contactHow many conversations turned into someone your team can reach.
SalesPaid orders, completed bookings and deals you marked as won — the money the agent brought in.
ConversionConversations → leads → sales. The step where it drops is the one to fix.
AI spendWhat the replies cost. Compare it with the sales, not with zero.

By channel

The same agent can work very differently on your website and in WhatsApp. Look at conversations, leads, sales and conversion for each channel separately. A channel with many conversations and few leads usually means the agent asks for a contact too late — or, on the website, that visitors come with questions rather than intent to buy.

Quality signals

  • Response time. An AI agent should answer in seconds; if it is slow, check what tools it waits for.
  • Handovers to the team. Some are good (big deals, complaints). A sudden rise often means a gap in knowledge or a confusing rule.
  • Unanswered questions. Each one is a reply the agent couldn’t give. The list should shrink week by week.
  • Requests for what you don’t sell. Not the agent’s fault, but a hint for your assortment.
  • Customer ratings of conversations with your colleagues after a handover.

Read conversations, not only charts

Numbers tell you where to look; conversations tell you why. Open a few conversations that didn’t end in a lead and look at the steps the agent took: what it searched, what it found, what it offered. Often the reason is simple — a product missing from the catalog, a question asked too early, a price shown without context.

Compare periods, not days

Daily numbers jump around. Compare a week or a month with the previous one, and change one thing at a time — a rule, a greeting, the catalog — so you know what made the difference.

In Sales Core AI every conversation, lead, booking and order is recorded with the actions the agent took. The dashboard shows these numbers for 7, 30 or 90 days with the previous period alongside, per agent and per channel.
